Everybody loves Roman numerals. Well, sort of everyone. Ok, no-one. If you ever need to work with them though, you can rest assured that we've got you covered! Just enter a number in, and it will convert it for you. You can enter both roman numerals or numbers into the box and the application will automatically convert to the opposite format. Roman numerals consist of combinations of 7 different letters to represent numbers. These are I (1), V (5), X (10), L (50), C (100), D (500) and M (1000).
You may have noticed there is a big limitation with Roman numerals (and therefore this application). You can only convert numbers between 1 and 4999 inclusively. This is because there are no symbols for numbers greater than 1000 (M). In the middle ages, modifications were used to allow Roman numerals to represent much higher numbers.
